I'm working with Domoticz and z-wave for a couple of years now and it works perfect for me. I use a Raspberry Pi 3 and RaZberry v1 board in combination with OpenZwave. Probably the Popp sensor is the best you can get with Z-wave. Special note, it can also be used as alarm (you can trigger the siren).
