How about a serial command, like the other controlling bits of the master status?
(CH, DHW)
They would be in the same "family", with the winter/summer mode and the DHW blocking.

Re: Boiler runaway when removing OTGW power
I understand your analogy, but I don't agree. When a thermostat uses the outside temperature to fix the setpoint, for example, it could send this computed setpoint to the boiler continuously and adjust it all the time, regardless of whether the heating is on or off. It really depends of its choice. ...

Re: Control warm water supply of central heating with heatpump boiler
Hello, I think this will be easy to do once DHW blocking is implemented! This is just one bit to set to 1 (or 0?) in the master status, and hot water production will be disabled. But it's not a feature documented in the OpenTherm specification 2.2, it came later. I know that my boiler supports this,...

Re: More control over Opentherm messages
Wow! I didn't know about the interface firmware! That's great! 8) I would be very interested to have a try if it becomes available for the PIC16F1847. What happens with this firmware if I don't send anything as a master to the boiler? In my current understanding, boiler only answers after master has...

Re: Boiler runaway when removing OTGW power
About this: :( No, no, no, I waited for longer time. The boiler will eventually turn on the heating! 1) OTGW power is removed 2) Boiler detects there is no thermostat anymore 3) It enables CH and DHW comfort 4) But because hot water always has priority over heating, it first heats the water 5) Once ...

Re: Boiler runaway when removing OTGW power
You are re-stating how the OTGW currently works. I agree with you that it works like you said, there is no misunderstanding about this part. I'm just trying to explain why I feel this is not natural. But I'm only taking the point of view of a pure standalone usage, where the OTGW is the only master ...

Re: Boiler runaway when removing OTGW power
I tested again. Actually, I was wrong. Yes, the flame turns on when I remove OTGW power, but it's not quite a runaway! Actually, as I spend most of the time in HW=0 mode (eco), my hot water is often not hot. Unplugging the OTGW power has the effect of the boiler defaulting back to HW=1 (comfort mode...

More control over Opentherm messages
A little bit off topic: Feel free to update the table of the messages supported by my boiler with my capture. It supports more things than currently shown in the table. Following are supported: 0, 1, 3, 6, 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 25, 26, 27, 33, 48, 49, 56, 57, 100, 125, 127 Some notes I took: 15 had...

Re: Looking for experience with the DHW push feature
I've just upgraded and I have a good News: my boiler supports MsgID 99 (at least it responds with WRITE ACK). I've tried HW=P at a moment where the current DHW temperature is 37°C and HW was set to eco mode (0) before. Unfortunately, eventhough my boiler responds with WRITE ACK, it doesn't seem to d...

Startegy to set maximum relative modulation
I would like to share my ideas about dynamically adjusting the maximum modulation setting. First, on my boiler, I've noticed the boiler never listens to the max relative modulation setting when its 3way valve is in DHW position. It's only listening to me when heating up the heating installation with...

Re: Looking for experience with the DHW push feature
I'll upgrade and answer your questions soon. My boiler is a Viessmann Vitodens 100-W B1KF-25. The time it takes to heat depends on the type of boiler. There are instaneous, micro-accumulation, mini-accumulation and accumulation boilers. On my side I have what they call a micro-accumulation boiler. I...

Re: Retrieve boilerstatus by OTGW, boiler controlled by on-off
My boiler can be operated by: 1- opentherm thermostat 2- on/off thermostat These have separate, different connectors on the boiler. I have to figure out whether or not I can operate the on/off thermostat and simultaneously query the opentherm interface. Initially, I controlled the boiler by openthe...

Boiler runaway when removing OTGW power
Hello, I have a Viessmann Vitodens 100-W B1KF-25 boiler. I use the OTGW in standalone mode. I like the failsafe design of the CS command (expire after 1min). I'm also trying on my side to keep that failsafe philosophy upstream (when implementing my MQTT control topic logic). During my tests, I also ...

Re: [Bug] Flapping CH enable bit in standalone mode
Thanks for your answer!
Yes, actually I had noticed the behavior like you say: only 1 alternative ID is enough. With 1 alternative ID, all UserDefined slots are filled with that.
I edited my post accordingly.
