Z-Wave controlled LED Strips?

Post by hettelade »

Hello people,

I got 5 meters of RGB LED strip, that I want to controle via some Z-Wave device.
Today I controle it with this RF unit - http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/36286 ... er_RF.html
Anyone know if such a device exists?

Best regards
Mike

Hi welcome to the forum,

There's no 'kant-en-klaar' Z-wave RGB controller available at this moment that allows you to control LED's like the box you have right now, as far as I'm aware.

Ahh, thats a shame :-/ Thanks for the answer tho.

So, for this to work, I need to tinker with something myself?

Next question, is it possible to get some sort of a Z-Wave kit, with 3 outputs, eather digital or analog, to use with a selfbuild controler for the LED strip?
I know there is a Z-Wave dev kit available, but Im not willing to spend that kind of money on a dev kit, and sign up as a developer :-)

Making something yourself is your best bet at this moment in time imho.

Since you already have a controller, I suggest opening the remote. Have a look inside to see if there are contact-points on which you can solder some wires. You could then hook those wire in an external IPpower-like device and then operate it from, for example, Homeseer.

From our company there is a large wish to control leds and RGB leds true the zwave solution.
Depending of the domotica you will use there are some solutions.

In the next few weeks / months we will work on a proto type to connect the RGB , Power leds and others to Vera and/ or Qees master.
So work in progress.

Arduino is the solution! Almost PnP (you have to stack some shields yourself), HTTP protocol support ("Web based"), what more do you need?
Wifi maybe? Doable too.
