Zigbee Motion sensors - which sensor is good?

Post by DJF3 »

Team,
I'm am still using 8x MS13 motion sensors that look horrible but do a good job (after approx 15 years!)

However, in an attempt to consolidate 5 different wireless technologies I want to replace them with Zigbee motion sensors.
Right now I already have 2x Xiaomi motion sensors but it feels like they're not responding fast enough.
It's almost as if I need to be jumping up and down in front of the sensor for it to see me and respond.
(I do this frequently to turn on the garden lights. Neighbours must think I'm crazy)

So the question:

What Zigbee motion sensors are (in your experience) reliable and offer good functionality / battery life.

(platform: HomeAssistant and/or Homeseer, RFXTRX433 present)

Interesting I've got a couple of Xiaomi RTCGQ11LM (with zigbee2mqtt / CC2538 + CC2592 - Zigbee dongle) sensors and they work reasonably well.

I'm using 1 on the hallway to turn on the lights and only occasionally it fails to see the movement. Same in the office.

Looking forward to see other responses

Thanks for the feedback people!

Advice I got from (a number of) other people is the Philips Hue Motion sensor.

The general thought was "It's expensive but well worth the money"
