[Experiment] Toon1 speed increase

Post by timkoers »

I'm just thinking out loud at this point!

I was wondering if the CPU of the Toon might be thermal throttling since there is no heatsink on the CPU.
Maybe it will be a nice experiment to put a heatsink on the Toon an try if the Toon's responsiveness changes?
I don't have a spare Toon laying around so it would be nice if someone who does could perform this experiment.

Could be. But mostly it is just because it is running on very low memory.
I will check the surface temperature next time I have a open toon1 laying on my desk.

yes i think it is running ot of memory (ram)

maybe someone wil make an kernel for the toon1 with swap support, so an mini USB stick can be used as an swap partition :D

for now the kernel doesnt support swap :(

Has been done ages ago (at least 6 years) and it didn't improve speed as the usb interface is too slow.

an usb SSD device wil solve the slow funktionality. years ago the most of usb drives were slow,

i know its not worth to waste time with it, but why not play with
