New major firmware release 5.0.4 - UPGRADE AVAILABLE

Hi all,
We have got the information that major firmware release 5.0 is soon to be released to customers (fixing the 10% dim setting for toon1 users).

However we discovered that release 5.0 also includes at lot of changes to the Toon (1 and 2). QT is upgrade to a recent version (5.11) and this includes a new resource file format. Also we are seeing some changes for which we need to rewrite some code for probably all custom apps.

Don't use the update script force-update-option to get your hands on 5.0 firmware if you want to keep using the custom apps for now!

Just because you say not to upgrade, I did so on a second development Toon :D .
A lot has changed indeed and many code changes are needed (in the resource files as well as in the custom apps itself) to get everything working again including ToonStore.
So, for all readers, stay far away from version 5 until you read on this forum that it is save to upgrade (not anytime soon I guess)

Does anybody knows how much is needed for downloading the packages? I have about 30M free space left and it cuts out at 25% for not having enough.
Makes me wonder how much is still needed...Tmpfs has 61.3M free space, can't I store them over there?

30M is normally enough.. from what version are you updating from?

Currently running version 4.22.7 on a qb2 with flavour uni
After a fresh start (reboot) and with the GUI disabled (I thought it would save some space somehow) df-h shows:
ubi0:rootfs 106.7M 74.7M 32.0M 70% /
tmpfs 40.0K 0 40.0K 0% /mnt/.psplash
tmpfs 61.6M 144.0K 61.5M 0% /var/volatile

(Had to delete all logs and rrd's for that after I backed them up on another remote place)
38%
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
ubi0:rootfs 106.7M 102.4M 4.3M 96% /
tmpfs 61.6M 184.0K 61.4M 0% /var/volatile
Not enough...under 5000 it quits.

After I freed up about 8MB deleting the .rcc files in /qmf/qml (Backed them up at another place ) and rebooted
I tried again:

ubi0:rootfs 106.7M 66.1M 40.6M 62% /
tmpfs 40.0K 0 40.0K 0% /mnt/.psplash
tmpfs 61.6M 136.0K 61.5M 0% /var/volatile
This finally worked...
After downloading I had 12MB free but...
during installation I saw
(watch df -h)
ubi0:rootfs 106.7M 106.7M 4.0K 100% /
And:

Collected errors:
* copy_file_chunk: write: No space left on device

But most of the packages are already installed so I have to do some manually labour :-)

How are you updating? Not with opkg manually i hope? The eneco script (and my script) have some disk usage warnings and protection in it.

The disk checking causesd the firmware update to fail when there's less than 5 MB free. A good thing.
The script returned no problems with 40MB free.
After downloading and installing there were a few packages that were crippled beacuse of no space left on the device so I forced a reinstall with opkg.
Had to fix the /etc/hosts.conf file (127.0.0.1 was still there) So I added the right IP.
Only package that failed to install is libz1

Installing libz1 (1.2.8-r0) to root...
Downloading http://feed.hae.orig/feeds/qb2/oe/angel ... armv5e.ipk.
Collected errors:
Removing package libz1 from root... <<<<<
* opkg_install_pkg: Failed to verify the signature of /var/lib/opkg/oe-armv5e.
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package libz1. <<<<Whoops

After a reboot Toon is not starting because of that libz1 removed package so I have to fix that as well
I probably have to reinstall another package and them install libz1 again. We'll see.

At the moment i can't update or install anything since opkg returns:
opkg: error while loading shared libraries: libz.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I can't download the package libz1 either ( http://feed.hae.orig/feeds/qb2/oe/angel ... armv5e.ipk.)
since feed.hae.orig times out. VPN is up.

If some could download that package and makes it available i can manually install the files in the right directories.

feed.hae.orig is the one the script uses.. if you are doing it manually the real name is feed.hae.int
So when you have manually enabled the vpn the url would be http://feed.hae.int/feeds/qb2/oe/angeli ... armv5e.ipk

There's something worng with my VPN I guess, I cannot ping any feed.hae. It's up but well, not really doing it's thing.
Can you download the package for me? Then I can figure out why vpn isn't working.
