Update failed

Post by Joskep »

Hello, an question..

A friend of mine has problems with updating te rooted v1.

When i do this:

1. Curl -l -Nks https:// .....(complete address) of update-rooted.sh

2. Sh/root/update-rooted.sh

Shall this fix it?

Im reading and collecting tips before i will start an teamviewer session (and brake the Toon ;-)

Hopefully somebody can advise if i understead it wright and this command wil fix it.
Otherwise...maybe you can advise wich file to rename/erase.

Thanks

You got two options:

Use Toon Recovery from TheHogNL or post the debug files. What see you on the shell?

Okay, thanks for the reply.
I will search within the forum, im not familiar (yet) with the recovery.

EDIT:

FOUND: https://github.com/ToonSoftwareCollective/ToonRecovery

isn.t it possible to login via SSH and remove an old file so the Toon will update again?
(Like i said, i can.t yet look inside it, i will use RDP to login from home (Teamviewer) and locally install Putty on his machine. So i can.t (yet) post an log or debug info.

EDIT;
Factory reset didn.t do the trick my friends says.. what if i use the reset button at the back? (Will it harm the rooted device?)

You can try:

sh update-rooted.sh -v 5.33.9
with -v parameter you can force the update.

you can use the reset button just fine, but make sure you don't get a power cycle, then you can break more.. simple reboot in putty also makes Toon restart.

Hello, when i try that command it saysL

sed: can't create temp file '/etc/hostsQOkl2z': Read-only file system
update-rooted.sh: line 1127: can't create /etc/hosts: Read-only file system
/mnt/data/update/upgrade-qb2.sh: Read-only file system
Could not download the upgrade script from the source.
Quitting the upgrade. It was a nice try tho...

As an newbee i first thougt; alrigt...SUDO and then the command...

But then it says:

-sh: sudo: not found

Somebody can advise?

EDIT: Im logged in as ROOT

The problem is that the v1 doesn't find WIFI, so via UTP is does take an internet connection.
It says an new firmware version is availble, but after it donwloads (100%) is unable to install.

Read-only filesystem is probably because the internal flash disk is failing. Making it read-only the toon protects this a bit.

Try the ToonRecover scripts. Maybe that can fix your toon. If not, your toon is ready for garbish

Okay, thanks!

So if i understand wright?...

I have to do this: https://github.com/ToonSoftwareCollective/ToonRecovery ?
And there's no other way via CLI direct inside the Toon via SSH?

(simply delete an old version?!)

EDIT
After deleting the Buienradar app and rebooting it doesn't say there's new firmware.
It now has: 5.30.4

5.33.9 is the newest version.
With very good linux knowlegde you could repair the toon which is in read-only mode. But if that was you, you would not ask these questions here.
