this can happen because the public ssl certificates for https traffic are not being updated on your Toon. Probably best to upgrade to the latest firmware, ssl certificate store is included there

Hi Toonz,

Thanks, yes indeed expired certificates might be the reason here.

Are there any disadvantages with upgrade to the latest release.
E.g. is it still possible to change apps locally on the Toon?

no real disadvantages other then that you cannot change the system apps yourselves but you can still add new ones of course

Hi Toonz,

Everything is working again. I'm on 5.0.6 now.

While looking into the certificate status (none where expired), and after enabling the VPN for a longer period, to see if the 'Native weather app' would work, I was presented with a message:
"[title:]Vanaf nu wordt je Toon automatisch geupdatet
[body:] Goed nieuws! Vanaf nu wordt je software automatisch geupdatet. Je beschikt dus steeds over de nieuwste funtionaliteiten van Toon en het hoogste veiligheidsniveau. Geniet van je zorgeloze gebruik van Toon!"
I disconnected the Toon from Internet, and turned the VPN off again.

Based on the logs it was preparing for an upgrade to 5.31.100, but based on available disk space, selected 5.0.6 instead.

Code: Select all

>> 2020-08-06 17:17:10 +0200 (pid 17095) _opkg.qb2-ene-5.31.100.script.sh qb2 ene 5.31.100 prepare
>> 2020-08-06 17:17:10 +0200 (pid 17095) prepare
>> Appending 'arch armv5e 19' to /etc/opkg/arch.conf
qb-auto-update not running
>> Possibly not enough disk space for big upgrade! Upgrading to 5.0.6 instead

A Toon model 1 cannot upgrade in one go from version 4 to the latest version 5,that's why there is a forced upgrade to 5.0.6 first.... just use the TSC menu option to check for upgrades, this will automatically bring you first to 5.0.6.

Hello,

Okay, I also see now that the clouds are standing still. The data and forecast are actual.
Today it starts raining here, and I was checking on my Toon early today no rain but the clouds are standing still. I did notes it before with the nice whether days..... without any rain....

Hi all,

thanks for your feedback, I looked into the weather icon issue and noticed that they changed the format of that XML tag.
I will update the app in the ToonStore in the next few days.

Kind regardz,

Toonz

testing the new version at the moment: new app is saying cloudy and raining in Rotterdam while the sun is shining when I look out of the window.
Anyway, that crap data is indeed in the buienradar xml file, nothing I can do about that....at least the icon is shown properly now.
Will test a bit more today before releasing it.

EDIT: the sun is also officially shining now ;-)
