Toon apps: feature requests

Post by Ierlandfan »

Hi Ierlandfan, I moved your post to a new topic.
best, marcelr

Can we make a vnc client for Toon, so to display whatever we want on Toon? That
would give us even more options... create an app for it and show for example a website that would be too much for Toon itself to handle

What do you mean exactly? Have package for VNC in the ToonStore so you can remote control your Toon via the Toon screen itself?
There's already a manual for in the Rooting Manual.

I think he means a VNC viewer so you can show anything on Toon, even windows 10 :).
I guess it can be done but you cannot start it from the regular Toon firmware as it is now. Like the idea though.

That is already possible with Domoticz/HA-Bridge setup. It is not possible to do that directly.

Is it possible to makena app to display upcomming events from a calendar (Google calendar)? It could replace our handwritten calendar for the family. That would be great.

Not so easily. What you could do is manually download the calendar in an .ICS format and copy to Toon
Toon cannot access the calendar online (because it is https, needs login etc).
Probably this makes it less usefull.

Re: Toon apps: feature requests: OpenTherm info

Post by Templar »

OpenTherm related info
  • A status display for your DHW boiler, displays boiler manufacturer, type and information like configuration, fault codes etc;
  • A heating/temperature graph;
  • and possibly a message log screen.
Essentially OpenTherm Monitor like features.

Used to be possible, unitl FW 3.5.4, after which someone screwed up the OT messaging of toon. Until someone finds a way to get the bxt messaging in that area going, it's a no-go. Would love to have it as well, though.

Could there be a workaround in the form of a iframe? I read somewhere that the browser abilities of the TOON are not that great. I figured out that a iframe could show the calendar publicly.

It would be a great app :D

Unfortunately Toon doesn't have a browser at all. You can only do simple http requests and then analyze the returned html source code. There is simply not enough memory in the device for a full browser to function.

Got FW 4.8.25 installed yesterday. Filled in my boiler info. I think Quby/Eneco is compiling a Data-ID database of boiler models coupled with their corresponding Data-ID's 3 &127. With the next FW release (4.9, in october) they will enable boiler monitoring so I guess OT messaging will be working again by then.

Depends whether they expose the boiler data again via happ_thermstat. If not, it will most likely only work when you have a subscription
