Anyone knows of an air quality monitor that can monitored with rfxcom.
I would like to activate an air purifier once the air quality drops to predefined measure
Any help would be appreciated.

Air Quality Monitor
It all depends on your definition of air quality. You would need a sensor (or sensors) that measure(s) the aspect (or aspects) that you deem to be important factors for "air quality", whether it be humidity, temperature, CO level, CO2 level, O2 level, dust particles (ppm) level, etc. Once you have defined your parameters, you can look for sensors that are received by RFXCom receivers directly (Oregon Scientific (temp, humidity) or Visonic sensors (CO)) or general sensors that switch a potential free contact once the level reaches a certain treshold. The latter could then be connected to a Visonic MCT-100.

for the sake of it, let say I want to receive info about dust particles, what sesnors do I need?
How about the AR112N Indoor Air Quality Monitor? Does it send RF signals?

Mine doesn't send RF, but I use a Figaro TGS2602 and a 1-wire ADC for "air quality".

It detects cigarette smoke and burning chips etc very well!

Ok, so we'll be looking at Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) and/or dust particles. I don't think that the AR112N will send RF signals. It seems to be an all in one package: sensor and base station in one. No need to send RF signals, so that's probably something they left out. Anyone else knows of a VOC or dust particle sensor? (Potential free output will do.)
