Marmitek takes over EATON XANURAHOME

Post by Bwired »

De kogel is door de kerk!

EINDHOVEN September 1st 2009 Marmitek BV, European supplier of Marmitek X-10 domotics, immediately takes over the entire XanuraHome product line from Eaton-Holec.

The XanuraHome products are high-quality home automation modules, developed by Eaton-Holec, for wireless remote control of equipment and lighting via the existing mains.

The sale of XanuraHome by Eaton is the result of the continuing European integration of the subsidiary companies Holec and Moeller. Eaton has decided, for home automation, to concentrate on the European home automation product line by Moeller in the future.

Arthur van Horssen, Sales and Marketing manager of Marmitek, amplifies on the take-over by Marmitek: Marmitek offers, with Marmitek X-10 home automation, an accessible and modular expandable open protocol domotics-system for many years now.

Since the XanuraHome and Marmitek X-10 product lines are complementary in functionality and are technically fully compatible, this take-over was a logical choice for us.

Within our pursuit for far-reaching product specialisations this is again a big step forward in our position to our target group.

For customers the take-over has no adverse consequences. Delivery and guarantee obligations are fully taken over by Marmitek.

About Marmitek BV

Marmitek serves the European X-10 home automation market from the Netherlands. Throughout the years the Marmitek X-10 protocol in Europe has become a standard in the field of wireless domotics. The company is also specialised in marketing smart solutions for use at home, which makes operating and connecting your AV equipment, and long distance image- and sound transfer possible.

Marmitek takes over EATON XANURAHOME

Likely Marmitek took over the whole Eatons inventory of Xanura products and the commitment to deliver the Xanura Home products and support for the next ten years.
In practice it means to fulfill the guarantee commitments / replacing defective modules / and may be to extend existing Xanura installations. The rest of the devices will go to the private X10 market still users to expand their X10 network and even may be setup new installations. Although it is clear new technology is coming on the market so finally you may have to say goodbye to 30 years old technology not capable to innovate itself.
Dont expect that the professional installation firms will offer new domotica installations based on Xanura.
New Xanur Home developments on modules are unlikely also in depth technical support delivered by Marmitek (like problems in firmware modules or complex X10 trouble shooting.) is questionable.

In the product list on the Marmitek site all Xanura modules are listed except one vital item is missing .. no offering of the innovated Home Control Box, the basic infrastructure component of a Xanura installation. Looks like it is the end of this controller and sad no new developments can be expected.

Funny the X10 filter carried by Eaton was a kind of re-labelling of the same Marmitek product, likely Marmitek will put the Marmitek label back on it same applies for the DIN X10 modules.

Looks like the HomecontrolBox goes only to Moeller.

Response of Marmitek ...

Defective HCB under guarantee can be sent to Marmitek and will be repaired
No decision has been taken yet on long term repair, selling or new developments of HCB's
