Asus EEE laptop

Post by Niknik »

Well, it's nearly Christmas time... who know if Asus is reading the forum as well? :)))

I wouldn't complain about your list, but that would make it a lot more expensive.
I'd only add the 10" to fill the frame and get rid of those ugly speakers on the side of the screen.
Touchscreen would be nice though...
(and embedded GPS and 3G connectivity, so I wouldn't need extra stuff around)

275 Euros!?!
Isn't that the U810/U1010 (in the rest of the world?) and costing nearly 800-1000 USD?

Wow... for 275Eur I'd buy one of those!
Any chance of shipping one of those to Europe? :)

Btw, just curious, how much does a Fujitsu P1610 cost in there?

I got this quote (13.000 TWD) from a sales guy near the Guangua 'Computer Market'. I was actually looking for quotes on an ASUS ePC, but now I'm more in the market for this Futjitsu. Had I known what a good quote that was last night, I would have taken it right away. Now I'll have go back tomorrow. And I'll take the extra symbols on the keys for granted.

The 8GiB Asus with webcam does 11.800 TWD here. That's cheaper too, but not as spectacular. Most prices for electronics are just marginally lower here. But the advantage is that almost anything is in stock.

I don't know if exporting them is such a good plan, but I'll see if there's anything I can do.

If you can check the price on the p1610 (usually too expensive to even consider) I'd appreciate it.
If it around 500 Euros, I'd jump right in! :)

I would also be interested in the U810/1010/8240 for those prices - my only "issue" with that one, is that - although really handy and highly "wanted", and nearly perfect; it has just a couple of thing I don't like:

The worst being the keyboard layout which is kind of stupid: you have to press the "FN" key to have cursors keys. http://www.tabletpcreview.com/assets/3640.jpg
(With a decent layout it would be just perfect)

Maybe we can get a workaround in software, to remaps the keys... but I don't what those engineers were thinking about when they designed it.

I'm sorry guys, but I don't trust it. I went back yesterday evening and the official Fujitsu store quoted me 40.000 TWD, a price far closer to the one we have at home. As the well known proverb says: "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" So I'm afraid I'm not going to give these guys my credit card number, and leave their nice little toy in their hands...
