Pronto firmware 7.2.22

Post by Snelvuur »

Did we miss a post or 2?

Firmware 7.2.22 is out, including upnp and dlna support. They also have a module up which supports sonos (funny enough) Not to mention "gestures" ala iphone!

What’s new? (16 December 2009)
New firmware (software for the control panels and extenders) is now available with new functionality.

* Rotary wheel enhancements; actions can now be ascribed to the rotation/ counter-rotation of the controller’s rotary wheel, eg for controlling volume or light levels.
* UPnP/ DLNA; The UPnP/DLNA engine now incorporated into the Pronto platform will make it possible to hook up instantly with other UPnP enabled components. One interesting example is Sonos for which a dedicated ProntoScript module is created.
Please read the documentation and download the module here. Extract the zip file and use the Import ProntoScript Modules... Merge - File menu option in PEP2, in order to add the Sonos_module_V1.8.gef file to your ProntoScript modules buildiing blocks.

ProntoScript

* Gestures; this feature will allow the creation of an iPhone style interface on any Pronto. Homeowners will be able to adopt a finger-slide approach to Pronto operation, covering a range of common system functions, such as, the super-fast scrolling of song lists and sliding volume control.
An example of gestures can be found here.
* Network communication with IP-based devices can now be performed using both TCP and UDP transport protocols, allowing control of an even wider range of network-enabled devices. Multicast UDP (used in dynamic discovery protocols such as SSDP or mDNS) is now also available in ProntoScript.

btw, ofcourse you can find these files also on http://files.binkey.nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

After updating the TSU9600 with the new firmware and updating PEP, i tried some of the new features. Looks great, there's a lot of Pronto development going on!

I've put together a XML-RPC library for the Pronto. Now all my User Interfaces (www, Touch screen, Pronto) are using the same interface to my Domotica system. A very good thing for a number of reasons :)

I must say Philips is doing a rather good job regarding the Pronto devices, very frequently new software added with new functionality...
I still like my Pronto 9600 very much!
