How to make à good start

Post by Marko »

Hi,

I'm new in home automation.
I'm going to move soon, and would like to start with home automation. I have done some research but not quite get it.

Would like a little start small and expand later.

Wanted to start with my lights and TV / audio. And preferably with my iPad.

Now I have come across various systems. X10 and Z-wave seemed to me the best.

CM15Pro with X10 and an RF / IR converter.
But later I read that x10 sometimes very slow. So I looked further and came to Z-Wave.

Now I thought Vera2 with sq-blaster. But I still do not know whether I can combine my iPad.

HomeSeer also seemed like a good program. But do not know if this is not too difficult for me. Can quite handle computers but am not really familiar with programming them.

Hope you can help me to make à good start

Marko,

Welcome to Domoticaforum.
If you are going to use your Ipad then is Homeseer one of the most flexible application.
Vera and others will work but still some challenges with none zwave devices.
For IR controle i'm using Irtrans

Begin 2011 I will start with some workshop for Homeseer.

feel free for contacting of you have other questions.

Thanks for the response.

So if I purchase these products

Aeon Labs Z-Stick
Düwi Z-Wave Dimmer Plug adapter
HS2
Hstouch
IrTran

So I would be able to try some lights and TV / audio control.

Should I buy hstouch and HS2
Or is hstouch enough.

And where can I find more information about the workshop.

Mvg marko
