Harrison Neta12 curtain system

Post by marck »

Just a couple of questions regarding to the Harrison Neta12 electronic curtain system.

I have searched the forum and apparently it's the most popular system.
But I'm just wondering if the Harrison Neta12 is reliable?
And can you hear the system when it operates? And if I assume that one can hear something, what can you hear, and is it very noticeable?

What other brands would also be a good choice, which is domotica compliant. :D

Hi Marck,
i'm using the Neta12 since few years.
it's doing okay..
You will hear it but it's acceptabel.

If you are looking for a quieter version look at forest.nl
price is more than twice compared to Neta12
Nice thing about Forest is they are zwave enabled.
The used controller is the duwi screen control.

Dear Tane,

You seem to be mildly positive about the Neta12. Does the system have it's and good and bad days? Maybe you could elaborate?

I did take a look on the Forest website. Nice system. But dealers are apparently hard to find. Do you or anyone else know where one can buy the Forest.

yep..forestgroup.nl
at the domotica show in Endhoven I saw there products.
There was to much background noise to hear the curtains.

You can buy directly from forestgroup. For a compleet system you have to pay about 800-1000 euro
When I look at the price I will still go for the Neta12.

Neta is 12V
Forest is 220v

Using the Harrison rails now for almost three years. Works without any problems ( have a 5.5 m and 0.7 m rail). agree with Enver that it is noisy. The system is built on a metal rail with plastic runners and when you compare it to the nylon style rails you will notice two things: double price and half the sound.

I think I was the first to use the Harrison electrical curtains in a Home Automation setting. Lots of years ago I contacted Harrison and together with Rfxcom within 4 hours the Harrison protocol was adapted in the Rfxcom transmitter. For me the Harrison works fine and the structure is proven to be very solid! I have to say that I have a status sensor on every curtain to be sure the curtains are really open or closed. As the harrison is operation on 433mhz which is very crowdy in my home not all the commands are handled correct. The status gives me control to send a new open or close command again, this works good. And regarding the noise.. come on, within 10 seconds the curtains are closed. :)

Harrison will almost never mis any command from rfxcom.
In the last three years maybe just 2 time.
I'm also going to add sensors to harrison since I want to now the status.
Some of the curtains are closed manually..Rfxcom will not update the status when the Harrison remote is used for the control.

Just wondering what youwill be using for sensors. Lookng for something small that will work with homeseer and connects wireless and has a fast response time (instant)

Thank you all for the helpful comments.

Another follow up question. How are the sensors installed to be able to check the position/status of the curtains.

I am interested too in the way people make the status switches.
My 3 curtain systems also never failed but it would be a nice addition.

If someone posts about it, I suggest to start a new thread.
