CTX35 delay

Post by fabian »

I've recently replaced my PMIX35 with a CTX35. Since then i've experienced slow x10 response times.

Code: Select all

10/25/2011 5:03:59 PM	S	C01	1273	154	C01	1273	149	4.6 No Echo
10/25/2011 5:04:03 PM	S	COFF	1281	175	COFF	1273	158	4.6 No Echo

10/25/2011 5:04:06 PM	S	C01	1278	182	C01	1272	180	4.6 No Echo
10/25/2011 5:04:09 PM	S	COFF	1276	181	COFF	1276	175	4.5 No Echo

10/25/2011 5:04:13 PM	S	C01	1274	180	C01	1269	181	4.5 No Echo
10/25/2011 5:04:17 PM	S	CON	1270	169	CON	1278	168	4.5 No Echo

10/25/2011 5:04:32 PM	S	C01	1262	177	C01	1271	181	4.6 No Echo
10/25/2011 5:04:33 PM	S	COFF	1275	165	COFF	1274	164	4.6 No Echo

10/25/2011 5:04:41 PM	S	C01	1269	149	C01	1271	161	4.5 No Echo
10/25/2011 5:04:42 PM	S	COFF	1271	160	COFF	1268	167	4.5 No Echo

10/25/2011 5:04:46 PM	S	C01	1266	150	C01	1266	151	4.5 No Echo
10/25/2011 5:04:50 PM	S	CON	1267	173	CON	1273	168	4.5 No Echo
I've started monitoring the CTX35 commands with the PMIX35 and noticed 4 seconds of delay between the housecode/address and the x10 command.

Not sure where to start debugging. Any ideas ?

Setup:
- Homeseer
- Digi portserver
- CTX35

is the CTX in the same place as the PMIX?

I've finaly had more time to do some testing. I do hope you won't mind me screwing up the forum layout with the following images.

The easiest way for me to test responsetimes was to audio record the clicks from my mouse and the click from a SAIX12

For the first test i've connected both the CTX35 and the PMIX35 to the same pc and both to adjacent wall outlets.
The CTX35 is being controlled by the Eaton Holec CTX test software, the PMIX35 is controlled by the Xanura PMIX Network Analyzer

There is only an minor difference because the CTX35 is actualy sending 2 X10 commands on 1 mouse click and for the PMIX35 i've meassured the time from the last click.
Image

For the second test i've included a digi portserver to control the CTX35 instead of my onboard serial connector. This introduced a variable delay.
Image

The third test is actualy why i started testing. CTX35 contrilled via onboard serial (com1) by homeseer + ACT TI 103 interface module
Image

And the final test shows a very predictable and stable response time using the PMIX35 also controlled by homeseer and the ACT TI 103 interface module

After posting this reply i've noticed all images are being resized so they're now clickable.

One last and final test. I still had a CTX15 laying around so i've hooked it up with a max232 and connected it via com1 (onboard) to homeseer.

Results seem much more stable then the CTX35, but still slower then a PMIX35

the shame

I'm a big fan of locally controlling DAIX12's and SAIX12's, as you might have noticed i don't like X10 delays :D . To be able to control multiple lights from one location, i'm using multiple nico switch panels with 6 momentary switches and indicators. The switches control some relais which on their end set pulses on the white/purple wire of the DAIX12/SAIX12.

Image

To power the leds i'm using an arduino which just listens to all X10 commands and acts if a matching lamp is controlled.
When the arduino reboots it sends a status request for all addresses which need to be monitored by the arduino. It currently sends 13 status requests after the reboot but sometime the request or answer got lost due to some noice in my network. This is why (and here it comes) i've programmed the arduino to send another 13 requests after ~ 20 seconds. But it actually sends 13 requests _every_ 20 seconds

It now seems that every time i tried to test the CTX35, the arduino was also sending X10 commands.

I've just replaced the CTX15/MAX232 with a the real CTX35 and it seems to perform exactly the same. Again, still a bit slower than the PMIX35 and a bit slower , compared to the CTX test software, due to homeseer, but do-able.

Does homeseer have plans to actualy write an interface/plugin for xanura equipment ?

And just for the fun of it, another test the CTX35
