Is a station preferred over an normal iron of about 25-30 watt.. I would like to buy a live time device. I'm not a pro on soldering (yet )
I also ordered the jeelabs starter pack to start with.
As far as i can find on the forums.. the only way to measure gas/water/elec is with rxfcom equipment
Too many options for a starter

Re: Too many options for a starter
I used a small Weller 15W iron with stand for a very long time (can't even google on a matching picture ), but last year I bought a Aoyue 937 and I am very happy with it. It warms up faster and can handle bigger objects better. I think for good soldering temperature regulation is one of the most important criteria.
Re: Too many options for a starter
The soldering station arrived.
Now waiting for jeelabs to return
Plugwise arrived also.. so testing can start.

Re: Too many options for a starter
So, a little status update.
Currently i have a bunch of plugwise adapters (12) running. And a couple of z-wave (duwi-me) switches and dimmers.
Now i 'm ready for the next chapter of domotica.
What i want:
Measure Gas-usage
Measure Water-usage
Measure Main electricity
Measure ingoing / outgoing watertemp floorheating
Controlling the Remeha Calenta
Monitor door / window movement (opened/closed)
Monitoring the doors/windows would be most convenient with z-wave devices i'll guess. There are wireless and running on battery's.
For the other measurements I would prefer 1 kind of technology instead of a bunch of technology's.
Do you folks have some advise what to use?
