FS20 Water Immersion Control

Post by jpearce »

Hi folks,

Well, I'm happy with phase 1 of my FS20 setup (Sheevaplug/FHEM, CUL, temperature sensor and remote boiler switching) - It got me through the winter and the wife didn't complain - the ultimate test!

Now that the summer approaches, I'm starting to think about water control. I would like to automatically switch my electric immersion heater on/off remotely from the CUL - however I'm not sure there's an FS20 device out there capable of switching such a large load (I presume about 3kw - although I need to check). Am I right?

John.

Hi John,

if you use a underputz (flushmounted socket) you'll be able to switch about 5amps which is just over 1kW.
if you use a "in between" socket from FS20, like the FS20-ST3, you'll be able to switch 16amps which is roughly 3,6kW.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

Hi,

Don't know where I got the impression these weren't rated for 16 A - turns out quite a few of them are - so I should be good to go!

Thanks.

But do watch out for the flushmounts of fs20, those are only 1100kW.
