so what are the experiences?

Post by Andro »

So I am wondering. Has anyone used the KAKU devices and what are the experiences? I am thinking of switching to this system a bit and maybe move away from Xanura. Since I use homeseer it doesn't matter anyway and I can different protocols around the house. Xanura is nice, but also expensive and I seem to have still problems with noise on the line.

The system is cheap compared to the alternatives, but how well does it work?

Will let you know when I get my package of goodies :)
So far I've used HE and Oregon for sensors, I'll ad a couple of KAKU for that and I'll experiment with some in wall dimmerswitches as well.
I will use this to switch lights in hallway and kitchen and see how well it performs, I'd like 2 switch to Z-wave, but prices are keeping me back.
It'll be one way communication for now.

I use Kaku (15 devices), plugwise (10 devices) and Oregon controlled by RFXCOM/Homeseer. This works now for more then half a year without real problems. I let the kaku do direct control (so when homeseer is down the basic things still work). Homeseer is used for advanced things. For me it works very good!

I have been using Homeseer/RFXcom and lot's of Kaku too. Works fine for me, especially the dimmers that can be set on a certain brightness.

@Jaybee
How do you set the kaku devices to a specified dim level with rfxcom? i.e. how did you specify the kaku device in rfxcom, i used AC module according to manual.

I use a AGDR-300 (the one without adress wheel) and when i use AC DIMMER the device does not respond but i do have a dim preset scale
When i use the ARC DIMMER the module responds but i lost the dim preset scale?
It would be nice if i was able to switch the module via HS and make a choice in the dim level so i could switch the light on at night at 30% and during the day at 100%

nop. this was a non-working device that i sent to customer service and got it working back. Until now i controlled it with a kakuYCT-102 remote and a few days ago i tried to control it via rfxcom.
