rooting issue (tx/rx connected) help

Post by vso »

I am trying to root the toon,

- rpi (1b+) tx,rx gnd connected to toon
- i used screen/minicom with 115200, 8n1 to ttyAMA0
- toon U-Boot 2010.09-R8 (Dec 03 2012 - 12:50:30)

I get data only because of "reasons" i don't understand the data gets messy (data shifts or gets a ladder view) and unreadable characters ..
the RPI freezes because of this .. I cannot root..

Code: Select all

CPU: Freescale i.MX27 at 400.168 MHz

DRAM: 128 MiB
NAND: 128 MiB
Do i need to connect more cables ?? any advise is appriciated ..

Why not use the ToonRooter? Makes it easier.

My guess is that your trying to root a Toon with 4.16.8+ firmware which must be done via secure line. Pretty hard if you never done that.

Did you disable the Pi's normal serial console output? Probably you are now getting two sources tallking on same line.

nevermind my useless previous post. was too realy and didnt thought well enough

Spoken with TheHogNL and best thing for you to do is using ToonRooter.
That will automaticallt recognize the Pi model used and adjust the JTAG for that Pi model.

If you had followed the toonrooter manual you would have noticed that :)

if I had connected directly the JTAG pins .. instead of only tx/rx and indeed RFTM --> less headache
