@Esteban: I seem to remember there was more to it then just the signal either reaching the other end or not, even though the signal is digital. If I remember correctly HDMI has no error detection/correction built into the protocol, so bit flips will go undetected and might garble the image, without leading to a complete loss of signal. Cable length/quality would still be an issue in that case. However, I agree that Monster cables are complete BS and any affordable (but not too cheap) brand should do.

Also make sure the cable is version 1.3 certified. Versions below 1.3 don't support the Dolby True HD and DTS-HD format.

but on topic, anyone can show me the ones that have 3 video (with audio) zones on it? last receiver i bought was 10 years ago.. (and its still working fine) so i have to "catchup"

I know you can do it with a Kaleidescape server, and a player for every room you need.

But their products are very expensive so it would be much cheaper if you can use an AV Receiver.
