Hi all,

This is a very unique topic on the web, every one wants to automate, but what are your goals with it?
Please leave your one line rule below. For starters I share some of my goals:

- predicting when you gonna arrive from works, and preheating the home 20minutes sooner

- starting a sunrise simulation 10minutes before your alarm clock goes off

- start irrigation when soil is dry and no rain is coming

- in Summer when the outside temp is higher than the inside close the windows (or notify to close them)

- Turn off any lamp 2h-s after turning them on (arguable, but I would use it)

- RFID in shoes, and reader in door mats, so you can be tracked which room are u in (and music can follow u), or other high AI stuff based on ur profile

- alarm goes off get email/notification

- email about missed phone call (w/ called ID)on landline

This is just tip of the iceberg.

Please share,
Arpad

Floor heating has a much longer lag so is treated different here.

Not reliable when yoe have different plants/crops/trees in your garden
mrx23dot wrote: - Turn off any lamp 2h-s after turning them on (arguable, but I would use it)
Done that but with a different time span

Unreliable, don't know which direction you move, my wife has many shoes and is getting new one often.

Done already

Just let the chat bot of your domotica system answer the call and start a conversation.

Dim lights when watching a movie

Simulate people in the house (lights on and off) when we're away

Switch multiple lights when turning lamp on

Almost every room. I use the Fibaro ones. Their nice and small so WAF was good. In combination with hs3 their work fine. But they are quit expensive

some other project currently working on here..

Multi Device / Multi Speaker Bluetooth audio

in short, each control device (phone / tablet) has access to his own personal "jukebox" on the server
in this jukebox can be MP3 files, PLS Playlists to local files, or PLS internet streams

as default each device has it's own Bluetooth speaker set as default (for example tablet in the living room streams to the onkyo AV set) and device the kitchen to the Philips BT100 in the kitchen. (of course you can swap to other device too)

this way each user can stream the music he/she likes on the location he/she often is, so the tablet in the living room displays during the day "kids music" and in the evening "top40"
and my phone (portable controller) displays also dance/trance/club etc (more my thing)

the follow me audio is not an success if you have more people in the house (especially kids :) )

as soon as we leave the house, the music automatically stops. (and can be also stopped by pressing the stop button)

- Controlling Roller shutters based on temperature in a specific room;
- Various lights based on motion, opening of doors, sunset, sunrise;
- Opening garage door with aux button of a keyfob;
- Notifications when devices (dryer etc.) have done their job, doorbell, batteries etc;
- Controlling pump of floor heating based on room temperature;
- Mimicking the old-fashioned floor pump switch;
- Robot vacuum cleaner based on DOW, time;
- personal preferences;
- simulating we're not away during holidays (any suggestion on how to simulate our cars being on the driveway?)
- setting house to 'low power' mode when all mobile phones are disconnected from home network;

Creating rules that always work the way you expect them to can be very hard ...

- Send notification to phones whenever my front gate was left open when we are not home (and ability to close the gate from within the notification)
- Send notification to phones whenever the alarm was not activated when we are not home
- Automatically start and stop de-humidifier when the humidity becomes too high (wooden floors) and send notification whenever the reservoir is full
- Automatically turn on lights whenever we come home
- Turn on some lights to simulate presence when we are not home/leaving home
- When I have navigation running "go home" and I am close to home -> open front gate
- Turn on sonos in the morning with my favourite channel at the specified volume when I get out of bed (trigger: alarm deactivated)
