Is there a possibility to monitor the water usage via the optical sensors?

Yes. But unknown how :-)
It is in the Toon sofware but we don't know which hardware to connect to it. We must wait until we see this in production on Toons

Do you think it can be homebrewed, or would it better to leave the software untouched and wait for the pros to do something about it?

Some time ago I bought a pulse generator for my water meter, never used it. Will hook it up to a toon meter adapter in the summer holiday (if I can still find it :-) ), and give it a shot.

Hi Marcelr, have you had any progress in that project? I had to delay a little bit my home automation project for financial reasons, so I still have time to learn the theory

I just rooted my Toon and was also looking for monitoring water usage.

Found this thread using the search, so is it already possible to get this to work?

While waiting for the post to be approved I found out that that it's not jet possible in the Netherlands. Though I do have a spare port on the meteradapter for gas, the electricity is taken by the solar panels and the S1 is going to the meter port.

Can't the spare gas connector be reprogrammed for water?

No you need the belgian (Boxx) meteradapter for that (also uses the 'gas' connection though). A boxx meteradapter works fine on your dutch toon by the way.

Thanks, then how do I get one. I checked 2ehands.be and didn't see any.

I got mine from 2dehands.be.
But it's true, they're in short supply.

See further above. You need a boxx meteradapter (belgian toon) for this

Hello, got a boxx meter module and got it connected to my Toon, saw that some off you have it working also, is this with the standard optical sensor?
Or has someone managed to use another sensor?
From sometime ago I had a Sensus HRI-A4 pulse sensor lying around, now I am trying to figure out if I can connect this to the boxx module to read the watermeter.
Someone got an idea if this is possible and how to connect it?
