Upgrading toon1 and activating

Post by steffie »

Hi,
First of all many thanks to everyone answering on this forum and all the work going into the various scripts and software!!

I have some issues with the recent update-rooted scripts on a very very old Toon1.
I did manage to get the Toon rooted so I can access it via SSH. but the firmware on this toon is so old that the update-rooted script doesn't completely work.
it expects newer version applications that are not available on my toon yet :(
e.g. the curl app doesn't have the --data-raw parameter, and the openssl version doesn't have the genpkey option.

Is there anyone willing to help me get a slightly newer firmware on the Toon to be able to run the update-rooted script as normal? Is there an offline version of some intermediate firmware available that I could be loading or side-loading?

thanks!

Your best luck would be to ToonRecovery the toon to 5.0.4 and start from there

But you might be able to update from my server:

Get the https://qutility.nl/feeds/qb2/upgrade/upgrade-qb2.sh from my server
Then run it like this: /bin/sh upgrade-qb2.sh qb2 ene 5.0.6 prepare
This will then download the files from my server but not update yet
Then you run the same command but 'execute' instead of 'prepare'.

This WILL remove your rooting (it will reinstall the firewall files so no ssh access). So you might need to root again.

Tnx!
I ran the script and updated the software. That appears successful!!
The Toon looks very different upon boot now. And no root access anymore. So i'll have to find a Pi again and wire it up to the inside to root it again. I'll have to read up again how i had to do that.

Is it normal that the wifi connection on the toon displays as "niet verbonden" allthough I tried to reconnect the wifi several times and see it as connected in the router.
That is probably because it can't connect to the service center anymore?

Correct. It still has the vpn disabled (as part of the root process) but only the iptables (firewall) has now closed the ssh port again.
