So you can use this cheap window Sensor here in Holland.
With your Rfxcom 433 Receiver you can also use it.

I was just looking at the description of the TX1 component.

It typically draws 11 milliamps and if this is continuous even when the DS10 sensor is idle, I'm wondering about its effect on the battery life. If somebody have an ammeter you might want to compare the current drawn by an unmodified DS10 to that of your modified unit.

(If the TX1 is active only when the DS10 is transmitting, it shouldn't be a problem.)

the current is only active when the sensor is active
so when the state is alert or normal he is only transmitting ones
the current in standby = zero

I see that the DS10a on 310mhz is very buggy with the signal, so this improves also the signal??

I think the distance is better also, because with an external antenna?

Maybe a nice test, I don't have an rfx on 310mhz, but if you have, I'm curious about the distance between the 310 and modified 433

Hoi Richard,

The original transmitter is indeed unstable .
The modified device is a lot better then the original one.
I have 2 ds10a on the second floor and now I dont miss any status (yet)

I have been looking at those DS10A units. A question: How secure are these things?

Do they transmit an unique ID or just an ON/OFF command? Can I uniquely identify an individual DS10A (like with Visonic motion sensors) on an RFXCOM receiver?

They transmit a unique ID. Visonic sensors have a fixed ID but the X10 security sensors have a random ID hat is created during power up. After each battery exchange you have to assign the new ID in the software.
