Hello all,
I want to buy some (5) MS13 motion sensors.
Can you give me some advice? I see the marmitek have an (ugly) external antenna. But there are also other brands that activehome that don't have it. I need them to work with my RFXcom receiver.
Does anybody know where I can get them cheap? Ebay versions are on a different frequency right?
Thanx
Jeroen

Maybe we should add a new item to Groepsinkopen, cause I am interested in buying 6 MS13's.

I got 2x ms13 and i am not really sadisfied... to much traffic on the 433mhz so it gets missed sometimes.
I am looking into visonic on 868.95 as i have seen some nice deals on ebay. Just to share my expierence.

The MS13's can be used to switch on lights based on motion and switch off lights when no motion is detected for a configurable period of time. The Visonic PIR's cannot really be used for this purpose, see other forum topics.
I used MS13's just for this purpose and when I bought my Visonic Powermax Pro I thought of using the Visonic's PIR's and the possibility of getting rid of my MS13's. I ended up having a Visonic PIR, for alarm, and a MS13, for controlling lights, in my rooms.

I am using the MS14A. It is a US version, normally runs on 315 MHz, but I converted several of them to 433 MHz using a ready-to-go tranceiver (
http://ideetron.biedmeer.nl/Webwinkel-P ... e-TX1.html). Looking back at the total cost involved from obtaining the unit to having it working at 433 MHz, I paid about E 10,- for each one.
My house is fitted with several 433 MHz modules (10x THGR228N, about 13 MS14A and a few remotes). I have not missed a signal so far, but your mileage may vary (Luckily I am the only one in the neighbourhood that is operating 433 MHz devices. If you live in a densily populated area you may experience lost packets due to excessive traffic from other users).

So if I would buy the MS14a versions from ebay (7 a piece!) I could transfer them into 433Mhz versions by buying the tranceivers posted by JFN (4,13) or otherwise I could put another US RFXCOM receiver (Order code: 80010) into my ethernet receiver/transmitter) without having to change them to 433Mhz right?
The last option would also keep avoid collisions with other 433 stuff.
Who is using the last option?
JFN, could you share a picture/intruction on the modification? How much work is it? (See also other thread 'samen kopen'.)
Thanx, Jeroen

On this webpage:

Currently i have 31 sensors (mainly motion, door, temp/hum) working on 433 MHz and it seems like i miss more transmissions as the number of sensors increases. Still not much, but it does increase. So if you consider having a lot of sensors in the future, maybe it is good to use both frequency's to avoid this. Next time i purchase RF stuff i'll consider 315 and probably order an extra RFXCOM receiver for it.

I am going to try ay 310Mhz ( us x10 )
last night i ordered a shitload of sensors

and am going to try and see where this adventure ends.
After reading about visionic was not an option and z-wave can be slugish to(according to the hs forum) I felt like running out of options.
2 Jeroen, those ugly anteneas you are talking about dont have to be placed.. you will endup with a small wire thats about the size of the antenea wich probl. can be fitted inside.

I also ordered a shitload of motion sensors and door sensors (310 Mhz). Send a mail to the guy on ebay asking him for a good price on 15 MS14A's , 12 MS10A's and 3 X10 remote.
Het replied to me that he would give me MS16a's for the price of the MS14A's. Reasonable shipping fees.
I ended up paying $6,59 for a MS16a, $3,99 for an MS10A and 2,49 for a KR19A slim remote. Shipping of the package 50 dollars.
Shipment came in 4 day's later (WITHOUT IMPORT TAX [:D])
Here is the weblink:

(Now I will order a 310Mhz RFXCOM receiver to see if they work.)

@JayBee: I ordered my X-10 stuff from the same seller (several times). Fastest shipping: Ordered on a thursday, and found a package on the doorstep next saturday (3 days!).
However, the last shipment took almost a month and E 25,- extra (VAT + handling costs).
Consider yourself lucky they did not charge you VAT + handlingcosts, but do not expect the same next time.
