So i updated to 4.0.1. via
http://files.domoticaforum.eu/Miele/xgw2000.zip , i found a forum user somewhere else who still had it. Also uploaded the latest 4.0.16 (as of writing) to the files share too.
Once you updates to 4.0.1 you can update easilly with the .bin file online via the gui. And when you have that one you can easilly click on the button "is there a newer update out?" so no more hassle with silly upgrades.
Do keep in mind that if you have issues that the update process gets you "broken pipe" messages, in my case it was running the udhcp daemon constantly (spawning it 25 times) which was causing a "hickup" every now and then. Because of that it failed. Doing a killall on almost all that doesnt seem to be o.s. related helped (killing the sleeps, daemons, and some .sh scripts) after that the update went ok.
