Ziggo Cable Internet 50MB down 5 up

Post by Bwired »

DJ, I like your speeds, but I'm a bit concerned about the drops.
I have seen some reactions on the internet about that.
as you know I will trade in 1 of my ADSL lines for Ziggo, but I dont want drops.
I keep my second ADSL for a while to see how it goes :-)

Has anyone with this connection used the newsgroup server from Ziggo? Is the retention as good as they promote on their website (+100 days) and what about the download speeds for downloading from newsgroups?

just use eweka, rock steady never had issues.. up to 40mbit (fast enough) normal newsgroup from isp's cap the connections and speed and less retention and most of them also dont have alt.b.<fill in>

btw, i still dont have that new modem from ziggo.. just called them up.. wait another 2 weeks, some could take longer.. nice nice..

No problems with newsgroups from Ziggo. Untill now i was able to get every file i was looking for (and found)
They have also the Boneless newsgroup, one that my previous provider was missing among many other. The download speed is for me good enough. I have a all-in-one deal with Ziggo for 20Mbit wihich was recently raised by Ziggo. Last week i had a file transfer rate of 1Mb/s with Sabnzbd

@pieter: add a second server in sabnzbd (your xs4all) then you will get even more :)

Thanks, i'm still considering switching to the Ziggo 50 Mb/s connection. If the Ziggo newsservers works good, I could save some money and stop my subscription from my external newsserver.

ziggo servers are okay if you don't need post older than 30 days and speed limit of 25 mb is not a problem

I have extra server eweka.nl
When Ziggo and eweka are active at the same time download speed is more the 45mb
eweka.nl > 200days+
Subscription if for 1 month 7,5 euro..will automatically stop if you don't pay

Download of DVD5 is +/- 15 min

I also have made the step back to ziggo. I have a 20 mbit connection now at Telfort but my max speed is 7 mbit and not getting any higher.
Hope I'm making the right disission. I also use Eweka but am looking for a quicker payserver. 10 september is the switch day! Also have ordered a HD reciever and a HD subscription. Now al I need is a good HD tv next to my HD ready beamer with screen (2.66 mtr x 1.45 mtr)
