i'm looking for an ip camera which works with linux with the following requirements.
grab images/movies on motion detection, from a linux machine with a console based tool
has a builtin webserver
day/night view
any ideas?

If the night view is important, you can add an IR lamp near the camera.

Just get a "ip camera" then use a program called "motion" for linux, which can detect changes, and also record movie/timestamp etc, also support lots of camera's on usb etc etc, i would look at motion (i used that for a long time)

That should work yes, with motion you can just point it to a weburl (to get the picture) and it checks the difference between the 2, thats how it detects motion. Since its ip based, you allready have a http interface. Only need to check if its day/night, has ftp and such.. but i dont see a reason to have ftp on a camera though (since you can use motion on a linux box and do/ftp whatever you want) but double check on the website to see if its all supported what you want.
