Last week I started with a new challenge.
Combine all the data and media files on one system.

I started with
Qnap 119P
1.2 GHZ CPU 512 mb memory
2 TB WD green HD

It was performing well for the normal usage.
streaming media
Downloading (SABNZBD) great!!!

Adding camera recording was a challenge...The CPU power is just to low to let all the jobs run at the same time.

Today I replaced the QNAP 119 whit the QNAP 239pro
1.6 Ghz Intel Atom 270 CPU
1024 Mb Memory
2 disk Samsung F2 1.5TB

All the task can be run simultaneously..nas is still performing well

Power Usage is much higher..
119p +/- 14 watt
239Pro +/- 26 watt

The pro can also scheduled turned on/of including wake on LAN.
Also build in VGA port ( It's a PC running Linux)

Support from WifiMedia is great.
I was there today for testing different boxes including power usage.

Conclusion:

If you are looking for a good NAS go for the QNAP 119
If you need also IP camera recording go for the QNAP 239pro

List of cameras
I think the generic will work for most of the IP cameras

I have connected to the Axis Ip server Q241
Option Axis 206 is working fine

I've got the Qnap 119 model and it is a very very good Nas. No fan, no noise, low power, very quick transfer speeds (main reason for buying)

Never managed to run out off cpu power, although I only have one camera recording, and I don't really have a need to record to disk.

As a well designed embedded Nas it is a very interesting product, just kinda works.

Only niggles are really small ones that I'm sure over time will be fixed by new software releases ie external disk as NTFS performance is poor, (so just use EXT3) Also the odd rogue task from twonkymedia registering cpu as full, but it remains responsive.

Also mySql seems to work just fine for me, but I'm not throwing much data it.

Best NAS I've ever had, don't see any need to go for multi-disks and higher power. (I have had quite few over the years!)
