My Xanura installation is growing and I really need to move my PMIX35 to the transformer substation (meterkast). Because my server and ups are in the basement I need a USB lan hub.
Homeseer
win xp
pmix35

Which USB lan hub is working fine with the PMIX35 and HS?
On the board I see a lot of the Belkin, does this one fits my needs?

Jos,
I did never trust the Belkin for using with the PMIX35.
You need a stable connection for the PMIX35 plugin..ones broken it will never startup again.

It did work fine with Plugwise since plugwise will reconnect.

For me The best lan USB hub is USBAnywhere

Biggest problem is the price..

Since the last version the Plugwise Source crashes when the connection to the USB stick is lost while before it would reconnect.

Jos,

I do not have the same thought about PIMX35 and the Belkin hub. I am running this combination now for over a year, have not experienced any problems what so ever in relation to the Belkin hub.

FYI: I am running the belkin hub with 3 devices connected: PIMX35 via USB, RFXCOM transmitter via USB and a Digigbee boards also via USB. All device are connected to my virtual (Hyper-V based) Homeseer server. Before I got the PIMX35 I used to run a CM10 from marmitek with a USB to RS232 convertor, also no problems.

I would first try the Belkin, i have one also and it works perfectly, no problems at all for almost a year now.
The AnywhereUSB works very good too, i have tested it for a short while; it looks more professional compared to the Belkin.
However the price difference with a AnywhereUSB is rather large so i would first try the Belkin, can save you a lot of $$$.

Funny thing is that with the belkin software en Firmwareversion 1.2.0 it runs quit stable on WXP-Pro SP3 but when i use the Silex SX-1000u driver package v4.5.0 it keeps on disconnecting. Anyone the same experience? I saw on the silex site also a firmware upgrade to 132.401 but i'm not sure if this would transfer the belkin in a book-support system :)

Thanks for the replies. I think I found a more reliable solution:
Its possible to get a CAT5 wire between my transformer substation (meterkast) and my domotica server. The distance is about 13 meters.
When Im able to connect the PMIX35 with this connection its always on and not depending on my network.
I found that USB can be extended up to 5 meters. For longer distances you need USB-UTP extenders.
Any experiences with this kind of extenders?

We tried the belkin's at work but the proved unstable (disconnects etc...). We're using lantronix devices now, they work like a charm. Very stable! http://www.lantronix.com/device-network ... /ubox.html

I've been using the USB extenders for about 2 years now, running up to 30m.
As long as the receiving end uses it's own power adapter, it's very stable (not one drop out in these 2 years.

The receiving end has a USB hub with both a USB Soundcard with mic and speakers and a USB Wireless PC Lock.
Both are working perfectly.
I wouldn't hesitate with buying these devices when needed.

Yesterday I ordered a Aten USB extender. I will pick it up tomorrow.
Glad to read that this was a good choice! Thanks.
