Nokia 770 as "remote control"?

A friend of mine just bought a Nokia 770 for around 150 Euros.
Although I don't have a real use for it at the moment, I immediately think it could work very well as wifi "remote control" for a house automation system.
First of all, it runs linux, so it can be programmed easily.
Second, as it uses Opera and has a very nice screen (800x480) it could browse to any web page home control on our homes.

From searching around, I saw it was already at under 100 Euros in some sites, but now the cheapest I can find is 160 Euros at expansys.

(If anyone knows where I can get it for 100 eur, I'd buy one :)

What do you guys think about it?

Nokia 770 an 800 are great devices for home control.
the only problem you will have is Wifi connection time...it will take 15-30 second before you can make IP connection.
I was also thinking to buy this device and use as wall display...but then use the Bluetooth or the USB connection.
I hope the BT / USB connection is always in standby mode and will connect quickly.

I'll be checking the Wifi connection time using my friend's device to see if I can make it "instant".

As for the battery life, using it sparingly as a remote, I don't think it will be a big problem.
(but I'll know more in a few weeks when my friens uses it more regularly and can give me a better estimate)

But for now, it's just an idea - I still have a lot of coding to do to make my home control "web enabled"... no need for a remote just yet. :)
