Hi,

I'm fairly new to the home automation game so treading rather carefully. I have installed a Proliphix thermostat for the heating which I am very pleased with. As the next step I would like to be able to remotely turn on and off the (electric) water heater. I think the element is around 3KW.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an off the shelf solution for this? Ideal would be a suitable contactor with a built in webserver, but I've not found anything sensible so far.

It doesn't have to be wireless, wired to the network is ok.

Ideas?

Check Poseidon, for example the Poseidon 3468.

I use this also together with the Proliphix http://www.proliphix.com/

Poseidon 3468 alerts the operator to critical situations (contact opened/closed, or temperature/humidity out of safe range).
In case of an alarm, Poseidon sends an e-mail and connects to your NMS (Network Management System) with a SNMP trap.
Configuration and current sensor readings are accessible through a graphical WWW interface.

-IP thermostat function to control outputs locally
-2 outputs rated at 250V (double-throw relay contacts)
-Connect up to 4 temperature or humidity sensors and 4 Dry Contact inputs
-When a contact is closed, e-mails or SNMP traps are sent to multiple recipients

Thanks - looks like a nice unit, however a bit of overkill (and expensive) for what I was looking for.

I've now realised I may be able to use the fan relay contacts on the Proliphix to do what I need. There isn't a specific 'off' setting for the fan, but in my case, if I switch it to 'auto' it is off anyway,
