I've just got a brand new Axis 211A Network camera.
Am I thinking wrong here that if I connect the IP camera to a (in my case) Linksys wireless router (with all the needed settings set correct) that I can access the camera wireless?
(basically turning the IP camera into a wireless IP camera.)
IP Camera + Wifi AP = Wireless IP camera?

Sure, if you hook it up to a router with wifi via network cable for instance that should work.
Assuming the router does have internet. (if thats your setup) if you just want to reuse a old wifi router to make it wireless then i dont think that might work.

yup you can as long as you're connected to the same wireless router.
If the wireless router is connected to the interneet you're even able to use it from the internet.
Nice cam btw

The router that will be connected to the camera does NOT have internet.
I'm going to mount this camera (with the router) on a building, and as I do not want to pull an UTP cable all the way to the camera I was thinkgin of accessing the came this way.
As soon as things are working I'll post the URL here.

Then it denpends on the router and software if you can connect it as a client in a wireless network(if your linksys supports dd-wrt or openwrt it probably can) you can set it up like that.Noel wrote:The router that will be connected to the camera does NOT have internet.

Re: IP Camera + Wifi AP = Wireless IP camera?
If you have two WiFi routers, you could set the router up as a repeater (WDS) (if it supports it) That way the camera is just accessible from your network like any other thing that would be plugged-in. And only one needs to be connected to the internet if you need internet an internet connection at all. whether it's WEP, WPA etc depends on the router model.

I'm using an old WBP54G from Linksys ( wireless BRIDGE) to make my KiSS DP 558 wireless. Works great!
