Raspberry Pi; An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte!
A full blown computer the size of a flash drive.
Model A: $25 no networking.
Model B: $35 with 10/100 ethernet port.
They hope to be selling units by 12-2011
There's a few videos on youtube also.

Really cool device, been waiting for this one for quite a while.
Hopefully it will get released by the end of this month.
It would be the ultimate device for my HouseAgent software.

If there would be a way to run Homeseer on this box
Trying to think of useful Linux applications that could run on this (cheap) device...

Maybe it's possible to run Domotiga/Gambas on it !?!?
It as Ethernet, USB, Audio-Out and Video-out (composite-RCA). Easy to connect to a TV.

Yes should be possible, gambas compiles and runs on ARM too. The hardest part is getting a rasperry pi I think.
One of the suppliers site went down because of the big interest.

Tried to get my hands on one too, problem is that they chose two suppliers which only ship to companies in the Netherlands.. d'oh!
I woke up early to get one, but now I have to wait for the second batch... bummer..

Looks like a great device to tinker with!
I want one too, but I think I'll wait until the first 'storm' has passed - got enough things to do as it is

I want to see if I can use it a a webcam server. Theres software available. Leaves the question if this small device has enough power to do this. I think it might.

I am lucky:
RS expects to receive the first batch of boards into warehouses late next week, with the shipping of products on a first come, first served basis in line with customer registrations. As deliveries of the Raspberry Pi boards arrive at RS, registered customers will be kept up-to-date with the progress on availability.

I'm still looking at the Pi platform indeed. It looks very promising. I'm holding off at the moment due to the graphics performance debate. I'm not assured yet that fullHD playback of BluRay will hold up perfectly, that's what I kind of hope to do with it as well.
From what I've seen it should indeed be possible to easilly compile and run gambas and Domotiga on the board. With the power use it would make an excellent device to utilize for various items, probably even replace my already 3yrs old Aopen Mini MP965-D (oozing a not so bad 28.5w per hour).
Let's see what the first real performance benchmarks bring

To help ensure as many people as possible can experience the Raspberry Pi concept, we are limiting boards to one per customer, and we will send you further information on your request in the next seven days. Once we receive the boards into stock, they will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis, in order of when requests were received.

Btw, this should be moved to hardware general I think. This platform is not Domotiga specific. I would like to port/run HouseAgent on it as well.
