HDMI-CEC

I was following a group purchase about a product from Pulse Eight, the USB-CEC: http://samenkopen.net/topic/85286/714380
Nice. I didn't new there is technology in the HDMI that you can control any USB supported (HDMI-CEC) device that is behind your supported TV. But that raise me the problem: I don't have a mediaplayer which is USB enabled for this (I use ATV2 with XBMC).
So i did a quick search and found another product. I think it can help me (examine HDMI-CEC messages) to send messages to the ATV2. But I read a topic about a TV that has RS323 any many members like the idea to control the TV this way. Maybe that is an option to with this product? http://www.kwikwai.com
It has an Ethernet, USB and RS323 port.
It's a high price, but maybe someone has alternatives?
