Online devices on the forum

I think its time to do something to make this forum more Automated and geeky [:)]
Triggered again by Wifi I'm thinking about placing some HA related realtime devices of the forum users online (if you want). For example livingroom or outside temperature of some members who have there stuff online. Create a webservice or something where they can automatic connect to. That would make our forum tech and geeky

Or show outside temperature in the Author box which is shown in the topic or post.
Any more ideas from you guys, there is enough knowledge on this forum to make a first start.

First thing that comes in mind, is: hmm, sounds like a Webservice.
Next thing: where to store the information. I think local to the forum, or else the performance penalty could probably become to big. Each member that is willing to participate should have 'some tool' that updates his/her shared information to the forum or some other central place, so the forum should not have to query multiple sources for retrieving the information that is to be displayed.

And to make this a success-story there have to be enough members who are capable of creating that. I wrote some simple webservice clients and -services some years ago, it's not something you do on a lost hour on a rainy sunday afternoon when you've not done it before, especially when you do not have an IDE with some nice Wizards to help you...

Or maybe create our own "protocol" to keep things less complicated? Hmm, who knows what this will grow to...

Let start with temperatures.
I can give you the values from my town.
To do this i a need script what can grab the data from Homeseer and send to the Forum.

@Digit: Agree fully. I think I can make a table available on the Forum MYSQL database Where we can connect to.
I will get in to that.
Then another option is the avatar, my home automation software is creating some Gif files with current data in it. I only have to set the avatar to one of those images. Watch my avatar the next coming days

Yeah, that avatar of yours is pretty boring..[:D][:D]
I was constantly waiting for the 0.500 to change but it didn't; in a way i was expecting for that to happen at some point in time, cause that would be a typical BWired-action![:)]

The next avatar will be one with more data in it so the energy readings can be in there as well.
The Avatar is a quick one and is updated when the temperature is changing at the Bwired house. The image will also change regarding day and night and changing on the coming weather prediction
I already made some arrangements on the Forum database, so lets continue with this topic.

For digit its easy, he can change from 1 to 99
