I have bought a Visonic Powermax Pro with RS232, GSM and XM10 kit and a RFXCOM receiver about 2 months ago from waakzaamwonen. First I had some trouble to get the XM10 connection going. Thr problem was you have to set a jumper on the print of the Powermax Pro, which is not described in the manual, and use a cross cable. The GSM unit is working as it is supposed to do (calling, sending SMS and for remote control). I use a simcard from www.lowcall.nl (only for the Netherlands) which is no prepaid and you also do not need a subscription, you will pay of what your used at the end of each month (cheap and ideal for an alarm system).

I know that feeling..
to be honest..I almost never read the manuals...and powermax has done bad job in making this device easy programmable.
For my first Powermax Marcel..from waakzaaamwonen did help me.
Powermax was driving me crazy grrrr..I did forget to install the wall mount before programing...dat was the trick.

Hi every body
They can't sell me a french powermax pro device, only dutch. Is there someone in this forum who succeed in programming the powermax in another language.
It seems that the manual (even in french) is useless. So, I believe it's impossible !
Thank for all your response
Olivier

You will need to replace the ROM chip with the french version...

could you tell me more about the jumper setting?
I have a XM10 connected with a straight cable and cannot get any x10 signals. I did notice the possibility of setting a jumper to "DEF", "2-way", or "1 way"
which setting should I use?
And should I replace the straight cable with a cross cable?

Depending on what you want to do with X10 you must set the jumper either to 1-way or 2-way. When you want to address 2-way devices directly, e.g. Xanura, the jumper must be set to 2-way. If you use X10 only for sending the status of the alarm to homeseer for example, you must set the jumper to 1-way. And yes you need a cross cable, at least for the Powermax Pro.

Nothing but good experiences. They're located about 15km from my home and I accasionally pick thing up at the guys home. He is not just a seller but has much knowledge about the products he offers. He allways takes enough time to explain things or for just a nice home automation chat.
