Wind and rain

Hi,

A question for the pro's here.

I got 2 big light domes that open motorized and are already integrated in my domotic system.

now i'm looking for a way to close them if it rains, ore with big windstrenght.

my alternativ is the Hager TG 051 weatherstation (german site)

looks good but one downside.. it costs tva inclusiv <font color="blue">€1414.49</font id="blue">.

This i find mutch just to close these domes, so i ask is there a <b>good</b> alternatif ?

Add an 70003 USB 433.92MHz receiver to your system (the LAN/WLAN version will be available in about 2 weeks) and you can receive Oregon Scientific rain and wind sensors. But also temperature, barometer and humidity sensors.

I guess the rain sensor is not effective enough because the Oregon sensor needs to much water before it reports rain fall.

but rainfall is one of the things thats most important in the function of closing my domes ..so maybe other sugestions?

Hi Guys
These solutions only work half for BJ. With a wind meter you can directly act on it, because most windmeters send there data upon change. So if the windspeed is above x Bft you can close the domes directly. The thing with the rain collectors is that domes should close at the first drop of rain. Most rain collectors only react after 0.2 mm of rain. The Oregon rainsensor is even worse. So in BJ's case you are way to late. There are some rain sensors on the market who react at the first drop of rain. But watch out which one you buy. I wanted to have a raindrop sensor on Bwired myself but till now every effort failed. The sensor worked at the first drop but also reacted when the humidity was high, like in the early morning. The sensor was a heated one, there are also some available at www.conrad.nl. Perhaps its a good solution for the dome, because high humidity is not good for the camera.

Connect the Conrad 190351 rain sensor to a DS90.

Use for example a WGR918 http://www.vitalitools.nl/content/m_os_acc.php anemometer.

Both sensors can be received by the 433.92MHz RFXCOM receiver.

Hi Bert
Thats the Conrad Sensor I was talking about, this sensor also senses moisturize. In the the early morning when humidity is high the sensor is indicating that its raining. Keep this in mind when applying. Could still be a good solution for the Camera Dome to close.

I looked at the mini click but that is not your thing.
Your camera's will be flooded once the Mini click reacts. It's not a rain sensor but it's a rain collector and once a certain degree is reached the pulse is given. See the picture

you need these, they are simular to the Conrad device, but perhaps better?
