How do you trigger your light?

Post by mholtkamp »

HI,

I've the dusk/dawn/movement sensor MS13E. Thisone has a a dusk dawn sensor and a motion detection. The motion detector can be used for turn on/off the lights. But I can't use the dusk/dawn sensor for trigger the lights.

If i trigger the lights on sunset/sunrise then sometimes it's yust to dark before sunset (bad whether etc.).

My question is... How do you turn your lights on/off?

Why can't you use the dusk/dawn detection for triggering your lights? I use it for triggering my lights.

Rene.

If I use the dusk/dawn sensor to turn on the lights, the lights go off if it's not dark, if the lights are no, it's dark

I use this 1 for outside lights:

You can set the darkness at which it has to switch yourself IIRC; default setting was ok for me.

@mholtkamp: correct because the sensor sees the light as daylight. Place the motion sensor not near the light. Or place another one in a different room without light (or outside). The only problem with outside placement is that there is enough light outside when its dark inside. You have to mod the MS13 to trigger the sensor later.

Sunrise/sunset times don't work - there might be heavy cloud or a solar eclipse (8-) But my MS13 too sees the outside lights as daylight; there's nowhere else I can position it. So... if it's dark AND there's motion, it turns the light on for 50 seconds then it turns it off again. That seems to work OK for me

There is another option if you're using HomeSeer (or any other device that has sunrise/sunset times)

Another option is to trigger another housecode and use an HS event. For example, your light is on A1. You set the MS13 to P1. In HS you create an event that will turn on A1 if it receives P1-ON AND it is past sunset.
