RFXCOM receiver baud rate selection

Post by b_weijenberg »

If you like you can have the RFXCOM USB or Ethernet interface for the receiver running at 4800baud or 38400baud.
Normally 4800baud will be fast enough for the current protocols. Only in exceptional cases where a Master and a Slave receiver are used that receive both continues data it is better to use 38400 to be sure to receive every RF packet in the application.

The RFXCOM receiver interface can be configured using 4800 or 38400 baud, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
Note: The RFXCOM transmitter interface must always be configured using 4800 baud, 8 bits, No parity, 2 stop bits.

To enable the baud rate selection in the Homeseer RFXCOM plug-in:
================================================================
Set the baudrec parameter to 1 in the [Startup] section of the hspi_RFXCOM.ini file: BaudRec=1
The baudrate parameter will now be visible in the RFXCOM plug-in RF receiver configuration tab.

IMPORTANT: The selected baudrate must also be configured in the receiver and Ethernet interface with a separate action!

CONFIGURE THE RECEIVER BAUD RATE FOR AN ETHERNET INTERFACE:
==========================================================
To set the receiver in an Ethernet interface to 38400baud do this:<ul><li>Set the speed to 4800 in the Ethernet interface using DeviceInstaller,</li>
<li>Connect the receiver using RFreceiver in TCP/IP</li>
<li>Click Toggle baudrate, (allowed to use now)
If the receiver is in 4800 it will be switched to 38400,
If the receiver was already in 38400 nothing will happen as the receiver doesnt understand the command and the receiver stays at 38400,</li>
<li>Set the speed to 38400 in the LAN interface using DeviceInstaller,</li>
<li>Select 38400 baud for this receiver in the RFXCOM plug-in RF receiver configuration.</li>
</ul>

Post by Antoon »

Bert,
When I switch to 38400 baud then I see only this in the RFReceiver

F2F2F2F2F2 Buffer flushed due to timeout
FBFB Buffer flushed due to timeout
F2F2F2F2CEDAF2 Buffer flushed due to timeout
FAFA Buffer flushed due to timeout

It is working now!
I only push the OK button in DeviceInstaller when I changed the baudrate but you must also save this.
