Sensor Monitoring

Post by gray »

My needs are quite modest and all I really want to do for now is to grab Z-wave sensor info and move it to a hosted web page. Would anyone please short cut my research and suggest a simple (low cost) gateway product that will do that job please ?

Any guidance much appreciated

Hi Morten

Thanks for the response. I would like to monitor PIR (Movement), Door contacts, Flood/Leak Alarm, Mains Failure and temperature in several different properties but get the data back to a single point so I can see the status of, or data from, each sensor in each location using a browser. The way I was hoping to tackle this was to send the data to a hosted web page (but not one with public access) and then log into it.

I would prefer not to run a PC in each property but each one does have ADSL and a router with a spare port. If its possible to add further sensors later to expand the capabilities then great !

Thanks for any thoughts

To me i sounds like, you need a master in each property like Micasaverde Vera http://www.micasaverde.com/ (4 Watt) or QEES master http://www.qees.eu/ (Properly 2 Watt).

Both have a LUA interface, where you can get the data for your central application.

Manodo have some kind of system, but I have never seen it. http://en.manodo.se/manodo_en/index.cfm

NorthQ is working on a master, that should be able to do it. But it will take a while. http://www.northq.com/

I have updated my Twitter script to take devIce info and save it to an html file. This gets ftp'd to my website automatixally, every 30 minutes. Will add more info later!

That sounds great so my question is, how do you get your data from a sensor to the web ?
