RS485 RS232 converter

Post by John »

I have a system that needs a RS485/RS-232 coverter to connect it to the computer to control.

When I use a serial device server For e.g. a Netcom 113 (http://www.vscom.de/666.htm) do I still need this RS485-RS-232 converter or can the software imediately control it using the virtual COM port (the software assumes that an RS-232 cable is connected to the computer).

Sorry dottore, No you don't need it :)

RS232 full duplex
RS422 full duplex
RS485 4 wire, full duplex
RS485 2 wire, half duplex, with echo
RS485 2 wire, half duplex, without echo

I have the VSCOM Netcom 813 and running a Nemef RF Module (2 wire RS485) on it.

You can adjust it in the webserver (settings) of the Netcom 113
