Just started using z-wave
going to make the switch from x10 to z-wave
thought one of my minor problems would be solved bij 2-way communication
when i manual operate my duwi switch i see no change of status in homeseer (i did refresh)
Could someone give me a hint
Regards Johan
Problem solved, enabled polling
what is a normal timesetting?
Duwi switch status change?
Re: Duwi switch status change?
Johan,
Welcome to Domoticaforum.
Beste is not to pool so often.
For most of my devices I'm doing this every 300 seconds.
If you set the poll time low this can cause problems in big networks.
I'm doing status update using poll events in Homeseer.
for every room 1 event with all the zwave devices in that room.
When changing the HSTouch screen to a another screen a Poll event for all the devices on the new screen will run.
Status will be updated every time when a new screen is displayed.

Re: Duwi switch status change?
Johan,
I have different Duwi switches, art nr. 5431, 5433 and 5443 and my experience is that there is no support for "state change reporting" in that devices. I am a bit disappointed about that. Your solution in homeseer is the way to go. Good hint from Tane to use poll events.
btw: There are other z-wave devices with a configurable reporting interval timer on the z-wave switch itself. Take a note of the following: If you configure that reporting interval timer to close, there might be no immediate statechange send from the switch propably due the dutycycle in relation to z-wave.
regards,
Superhuub.

Re: Duwi switch status change?
I cant believe that these Duwi devices are so popular as they do not have status change reporting!
This is one of the must have things within Home Automation... or I'm I wrong?

Re: Duwi switch status change?
Yep,
I did not believe it myself either, but patents are the reason why Duwi (and other suppliers) do not support instant status reporting. Lutron holds this patent. See http://www.homeseer.com/wiki/index.php/ZWave, section: Scenes.
And yes; falling back to polling is not what I liked either

Re: Duwi switch status change?
This is because of a (higly payed) patent owned by Lutron.
Instant status notifications violate this patent, so companies have to pay them if they want to implement it in there products. (talk about monopolizing a market)
A few of the older switches (ACT) have the capability to be paired to your controller, thus sending out instant status updates whenever they are operated locally.
They won't send out status updates when controlled by another controller (zth-200 for instance).

ps. For more info about the patent breach, read: http://www.cepro.com/article/print/lutr ... _controls/ or google "lutron light patent"
This kind of stuff should be illegal....
