I go for the Roomba, because the fun factor as you all say is much higher and more possibilities for connecting to it. I will order lots of spare parts with it! Lucky me this one is going to be sponsored :-)
Just need to find out if the new 570 version has the same 7 pin Din connector and uses the same At command set.

They will supply the 560, but not the 570.

I asked about the 570, they will not import those.. this was there response: *DUTCH*

Hopefully we can still get the remote commander thingy... to integrate it into home automation.

LOL.. I have missed this post. This site is one of my sites :-)
I got this Romba some years ago, and put (as you can see) a webcam on it.

At the moment I'm rebuilding the battery pack (as it's dead), ad hope to have it back "live" online again soon.

This is so true, but if you look at the pictures, you will be able see the 'howto'.

I'm planning to get a roomba as well and of course try to connect it to my HA system.
Any help on which version best to buy is welcome.

I'm more in the market for a Scooba. Unfortunately it's not expected before October 2008, but that may just as well be delayed since it's been delayed many times before.

@bwired: get the 560 + remote.. the remote will enable you to sit on the couch and clean without line of side (RF) i think the IR part works to, so you can schedule a cleaning when your away (an extra one besides the regular ones.. ) or just do something like "if not done today, and people are out of the house, then clean"

you do need a irtrans, or similar then, but i read that IR should work fine too.. (530 model cant use the RF remote though)

@mindbender: scooba is nice, but by the time its finally arrived i think its outdated then... it needs a new model anyway (since its been out for a long time now)

Interesting, the reviews on the Dutch site are also positive.
With Irtrans IR I can reach every corner in my house
Controlling via Homeseer will be easy..

@bwired: read this http://www.irobotstore.nl/index.php?main_page=page5

it says:

The remote is nice to have, but only to give it the "start cleaning" command.
Once the Roomba is running you do not need the remote anymore (well I never did).
Also. As the Roomba does make some noise, I always used it when I was not in the room / house.
