* Bluetooth 2.0-compatible
* Standard USB connector
* Works with Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
* 1 km external antenna included
* Extended range for up to 30 km
* No external power needed
* Aluminum case for reduced interference and increased sensitivity
* Extends the range of your existing bluetooth devices!
* Built on AIRcable XR long-range technology
Ofcourse the ranges are only with normal line of sight etc etc, but it should extend it so i can use it all around/in the house if i am correct.
Instead of going for rfid which is also a solution i want to use this as to see if someone is home or not.
I also found a nice piece of linux script to go with it (but ofcourse you can use this device with windows too and homeseer + plugin for bluetooth) which sends a email when someone is around and gone (which is an example but can be worked further on)

* update : be more geeky http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/oui/oui.txt use this list to check on mac address the vendor of the devices.
use (perl) http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=97093 to look it up.
http://www.nta-monitor.com/tools/arp-sc ... 1.6.tar.gz us also a nice package which has also a oui converter in it (rest is not needed though)
