HTC Pro firmware

Is it possible to upgrade the firmware of a HTC Pro when it is a sim locked device i.e. connected to only one provider or do i end up with a useless brick?
At this moment it is running on:
Rom 1.90.172.4 NLD date 8/23/08
Radio 1.02.25.19
Protocol 52.33.25.174

After installing hardSPL you can install any version.

right, i need more time to do this move. I was sort of hoping it would be just like a bios upgrade or nokia update but this takes more preparation time.
