Experiences with USB->VGA/DVI adapters

Does someone has any experience with using a USB2.0 to VGA/DVI adapter. I would like to attach a touchscreen to my Mac Mini which is also connected to my LCD television. The connection to the LCD television is used for mediacenter software (Plex on OSX or XBMC on WindowsXP/Vista) and the touchscreen connection will be used for controlling my domotica and the mediacenter software without turning on the television). I have not made up my mind which graphical adapter, the Intel GM945 inside the Mac mini or the USB one, to use for connecting to which monitor. I was think of using the USB one to connect to my LCD television, because on Windows I am not able to select the native resolution of my LCD television (1366x768) or 720p (on OSX I can).
