very nice! one problem, if you use the coffee table for its original purpose you have to shuffle the cups :)

I have seem those technique before , it would be a combination of motion detect and video.
Some similar project you can find it here :

There would be some European supplier , but the price's where a half year ago very high.

In think this kind of control will not be available in the next 5 years.
I see multi touch..with camera sense
and lot of other connectivities that are only seen in SF movies
a better option will be VR control like in the movie minority report
