More info: http://www.domoticaforum.eu/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1813
The downside i read is that you will need a plan for the additional stuff (like fat measurement)
Anyone an idea what de differences are compared with http://www.withings.com/en/ besides the price and wifi
Edit: Never mind: http://domoticaforum.eu/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3679
Any update on that topic Pieter? Promotioncode fi.

Re: Youw8 Easy at 1dayfly
I own a Yourw8 for a couple of months now. Great product, only downside is that you can't host the data yourself and there is no option of exporting the data automatically. It uses a 868 Mhz connection to communicate with a bridge that has it's own little webserver which displays the last weight received from the scale and uploads them to the website.
You could use a 868 Mhz receiver to receive the measurements from the scale, but maybe it's easier (and cheaper) to use a scraper to import the measurements. If someone wants a dump of the code just let me know.

@pietervanharen: Do you know if the traffic to their webserver is encrypted?

Re: Youw8 Easy at 1dayfly
@Alexander sorry, I don't know if it is. Is there an (easy) way for me to check that?

difficult without any knowledge of using a network sniffer. What is your location?

Re: Youw8 Easy at 1dayfly
Just block port 443 on your firewall. If the data is showing up on the site the no https is used.

Re: Youw8 Easy at 1dayfly
hehe nice one, but don't make a fast conclusion based on that
Not many users have a firewalls that can block outgoing traffic.
But i give it to you, nice idea. Hopefully Pieter can check this.

Pieter can you receive commands using rfxcom? Or don't you see the packets?
Traffic might be secured but going over another port (non 443).
Does someone have pictures of the receiver hardware? (I want to check if has serial port connections) This might open some possibilities...

@Maarten: what do you mean?Pieter can you receive commands using rfxcom? Or don't you see the packets?
On the Other Youw8 topic there are some postings of Bara, supplier of the weight scale
I popped him the question again to make some kind of IP notification like I realized with the Withings Weighscale.
Re: Youw8 Easy at 1dayfly
Curious as I am, I am always looking to "open" things..
The receiver is probably some embedded device reading from the RF receiver and sending to the internet (linux?)
That's why we could have a closer look if it has a com port possibility, most embedded device boards have such a possibility for development.

Agree...
I thought for a seconds you where also referring to the possibility receiving it with Rfxcom

Re: Youw8 Easy at 1dayfly
Thing is though.. to have a seperate device in your network just to weigh yourself is a bit crazy
What about the power usage?
